This brooch features a hand painted resin frame with an image from an 1897 photographic portrait of Lady Gerard dressed as Astarte, Goddess of the Moon, at the Duchess of Devonshire's costume ball. The image has also been glazed with clear resin for a glassy finish.

The frame measures approximately 1.75 inches wide and 2.25 inches tall, with a brooch back that includes a bail (so that the brooch can also be worn as a pendant, if desired).
